Newborn Oral Care

Even before the first tooth erupts, it is important to establish an oral care regimen for your new baby. Wiping the gums, especially under the tongue and inside the cheek is recommended after feedings and before naps at least three times a day.

A baby washcloth moistened with luke warm water is a great tool for newborn oral care but cotton gauze or a baby toothbrush can also be used. When should your baby have his first dental visit. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see the dentist within six months of the eruption of the first tooth or by the child's first birthday.

These early steps can help give your growing child a lifetime of good oral health.
